DeOrsay Campbell Smith Architects is a residential architecture firm rooted in the classic traditions of New England design, reimagined for modern living. Built on over four decades of architectural excellence, the firm carries forward the legacy of Campbell Smith Architects under the leadership of Christopher DeOrsay, AIA — most recently recognized with a 2026 Bulfinch Award from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art for Seaview, a new residence in Osterville.
Founded in 1980 by Peter Smith and Pamela Campbell, Campbell Smith Architects earned a reputation for crafting elegant coastal homes that blend historic integrity with the evolving needs of 21st-century lifestyles. Their portfolio includes some of the South Shore’s most beloved residences, each marked by timeless proportion, thoughtful detail, and a deep respect for architectural heritage.
In May 2025, Christopher DeOrsay took the helm and re-established the firm as DeOrsay Campbell Smith Architects—honoring its past while leading it into the future. A longtime collaborator and practitioner of traditional design, Christopher brings his own vision and expertise to the studio, maintaining a commitment to form, function, and enduring beauty.

Our Philosophy
We believe that good architecture is both recognizable and meaningful. A DeOrsay Campbell Smith home is defined by its balance of geometry, texture, fenestration, and color—where every elevation is considered, and every detail serves a purpose.
As Peter Smith once said:

Carrying Forward a Legacy
Meet Christopher DeOrsay
Christopher DeOrsay is a licensed architect in Massachusetts with a practice in traditional and classical architecture focused on custom residential projects. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with BFA and B.Arch, Christopher started hand drafting 30 years ago and transitioned to CAD and BIM while working for Campbell Smith Architects. Christopher has developed a strong technical background in custom residential work and is skillful in managing a small design team and coordinating large complex residential projects in the previous 27 years of practice. Christopher is a member of AIA, BSA, ICAA and NCARB.
